Thanksgiving Blessings

Thanksgiving is a big holiday that everybody thinks about as a great time with family and friends eating and drinking without limits.   

However, the original intention was for it to be a time to be grateful.  How often do we stop the incessant do-do-do and go-go-go to take a moment to reflect on all the blessings in our lives? 

We are caught up in the frenzy of our lives and spend much of our time busy going, doing and acquiring focused on filling our lives with what we think makes us happy.  How often do we believe that what we need is external, the next outfit, next man, next home?  We are so caught up in our own challenge to get as much as we can, after all, we’ve all believed in fairy tales and that whoever dies with the most toys, wins.   Right? 

So, how do we get in touch with our true needs?  Good question?   The answer is the challenge. 

We need to find what really brings us joy and find a way to incorporate it into our daily lives.  We need to find a way to be grateful for what we have, all of it.  We need to really appreciate what we’ve become and whatever goodness can be found about yourself and those in your world.  It doesn’t have to be perfect to count.   So, as I reflect on my blessings on this special holiday, I take the time to breathe and say thank you.   I am grateful for so many things in my life.  My amazing husband, son, home, family, friends and satisfying work.
