Jane and her team did a terrific job of triage: organizing, hand-holding and packing for our big downsizing move.  Although we were just moving within Chicago, things were so well wrapped and labeled I think we could have shipped the boxes to anywhere in Europe and found everything perfectly intact.  With her assistance, we were able to feel comfortable with everything.

Memorable Entertaining
Dining Room

Do you use your dining room?

Many people just walk by and view their dining room and rarely or never use it. Some people use the table or room as a catch all.  Their recent purchases, mail, paperwork, snacks and everything else clutters the space, which drains their energy every time they walk by it.

The intended purpose of a dining room is to be a place to entertain.  Ideally, it should contain items to support entertaining.  How is your china and glassware stored?  How about linens, napkins and rings?  Candles and holders and some table décor also add to the list of items to be stored.  Even serving pieces need to be displayed or stored.

Many people end up storing these items in all kinds of rooms, living rooms, family rooms, kitchens, bedroom closets and even basements.  Consider what you are keeping and storing.  Strive to keep what can be stored nearby and accessed easily when you entertain.  To hold onto a punch bowl that rarely or never gets used doesn’t make much sense even if you received it as a gift.  You have my permission to let it go…not that you should need it.
Items to consider keeping in or close to the dining room for entertaining:

  • China
  • Serving Pieces
  • Glassware
  • Silverware
  • Table linens
  • Napkin rings
  • Candles
  • Tabletop Décor

Put candles and smaller items such as napkin rings
into drawer organizers within a drawer.
